Try just making motions with the pencil without making marks on the page. Almost like practice strokes to get a feel for how you want the line to go before putting it on paper.

Loosen up and use your shoulder and elbow to draw less than the wrist, when trying to capture the motion.

Yeah, interpreting reality through that lens is an eventual goal. I feel like I’ll need to copy some more work before it becomes a little more natural.
